Amazing artist John Blee, my mentor, titled this painting Bucurie—the Romanian word for Joy—after sharing that he could truly feel it within the work, describing it as something that makes you “vesel” (cheerful, light-hearted). In a beautiful reversal, he translated the English word into Romanian, giving the painting a title that carries both emotion and cultural resonance.

The title feels deeply fitting. Joy is not something distant or external—it lives quietly within us, waiting to be awakened. Through color, movement, and feeling, the painting becomes a gentle spark, reminding us that art and passion have the power to bring that inner joy to the surface.

Bucurie is both a feeling and an invitation—to reconnect with the simple, radiant happiness that is already part of who we are.
